The Mississauga Marathon is fast approaching! Being held Friday, May 14th through Sunday, May 16th, 2010 the Mississauga Marathon offers a way for the entire community to get involved!
With events including the Canon Marathon, Half Marathon, Desjardins 10K & 10K Student Relay, “The Hazel” 5K, 2K Family Fun Run/Walk, and the Corporate/Team Relay scheduled throughout race weekend there truly is “A Run For Everyone.”
For those who would prefer to stay on the sidelines and enjoy the weekend’s festivities in a more laid back manner, the Mississauga Marathon offers something for you too! With a host of activities throughout the weekend including live entertainment from local bands and spectacular shopping throughout Mississauga and Port Credit there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
If you are looking for something more hands on, the Mississauga Marathon is currently looking for 1500 volunteers to ensure that the 2010 Mississauga Marathon presented by Canon goes off without a hitch. Volunteers are needed to run aid stations, handle baggage check, and assist participants throughout race weekend. This is a great way for students to earn credit towards their 40 hours of community service!
Students can also get involved in the marathon through participating in either of our student initiatives: MaraFun Program or the 10K Student Relay. Schools are encourages to incorporate the 2K & 10K Student Relay events as fundraisers for their own school’s athletic departments.
As an added incentive all MaraFun participants who raise $50 for their school or one of our charity partners will have their entry fee reimbursed. Those students running the 5K or 10K who raise $100 will also have their entry fees reimbursed. The top three schools with the highest number of participants will also receive $250, $150, and $100 respectively.
For those participants wishing to make the most of their experience at the Mississauga Marathon, choose to run for a cause. Select from one of our charity partners or a charity of your choice and raise funds through your race participation.
Our charity partners include: Colorectal Cancer Associate of Canada, MS Society of Canada Mississauga Chapter, United Way of Peel Region, Jerry Love Children’s Fund, Trillium Health Centre Foundation and The Credit Valley Hospital Foundation. This year choose a cause, run on behalf of a charity!
